Napoleon Astound: the modern linear fireplace
The Astound is the one most people picture when they think of a modern media wall: a long, frameless line of flame recessed into the wall. It comes in four widths, 50, 62, 74 and 96 inches, and every size delivers the same up to 10,000 BTU (3,000 W) of supplemental heat. Width buys you presence, not more warmth.
What sets it apart:
- A media bed you can change. The front glass flips down, and both the Beach Fire log set and the Woodland media kit come in the box. You can also use your own glass or stone.
- Flame color your way. Orange, yellow or both together, with a spark effect through the ember bed.
- A clean finish. A frameless finishing flange and an adjustable trim are both included.
- Smart control. Premium remote, the Napoleon Home app, and voice control through Google Home and Alexa.
Which width? The 50 suits bedrooms, basements and condo walls. The 62 holds its own under a 75-inch TV. The 74 anchors an open-plan feature wall, and the 96 is for great rooms and lobbies where anything smaller gets lost. Our guide to what size electric fireplace goes under your TV walks through the proportions.
Astound FlexMount 50: when you can't open a wall
The FlexMount 50 is the most adaptable Napoleon we carry. Hang it on the wall with no framing at all, recess it partway, or build it in fully, and set it up as a one-, two- or three-sided fireplace for a room divider or peninsula. It includes both media kits, finishing panels and trim, ECO mode (half heat) and BOOST mode. Heat is up to 10,000 BTU at 240V or 5,000 BTU at 120V. It's the natural choice for renters, condo owners and anyone who wants to decide on the install later.
Napoleon Elevation: the traditional log fire
If you want something that reads as a classic fireplace rather than a line of light, the Elevation is Napoleon's traditional built-in, in 36 and 42 inches.
- Triple-layer flame that grows from front to back and side to middle, over premium glowing split oak logs.
- 13 top light and ember bed color options, with orange and yellow flames.
- ECO and BOOST modes: ECO runs at half heat, BOOST at maximum heat with a faster blower.
- Heat: 5,000 BTU (1,500 W) at 120V or 10,000 BTU (3,000 W) at 240V.
- The 36 uses tinted glass so the flame stands out even in bright sunlight.
The detail that matters most for new builds: the Elevation Electric frames to the same rough opening as Napoleon's Elevation gas fireplaces. You can frame the wall now and decide later whether it gets gas or electric.
Elevation X 42: the most realistic Napoleon
The Elevation X builds on the Elevation with two things no other Napoleon here has: high-definition gas and wood flame videos on the rear panel, so you can choose a gas-style or wood-style fire each night, and built-in speakers for crackling fire sounds. The triple-layer flame and glowing split oak logs sit in front of the video, which gives the fire real depth.
Key specs: up to 10,000 BTU (1,500 W at 120V or 3,000 W at 240V), plug-in or hardwired, a 41-3/4 x 33-1/16 inch viewing area, and a framed opening of 45-3/4 in wide x 39-9/16 in high x 16-7/8 in deep. Napoleon lists a 5-year warranty.
Elevation or Elevation X?
Choose the Elevation if you want a convincing traditional fire, and the 36-inch size if your wall is smaller. Choose the Elevation X if realism is the point: the video flame and sound are what make guests ask whether it's gas.
Napoleon Element 42: for an existing fireplace
Have an old wood or gas fireplace opening sitting dark? The Element 42 insert slides in and brings it back. It has hand-moulded painted logs, a glowing ember bed and decorative side brick, so it looks like a real hearth. The firebox self-trims for a clean finish, with an optional larger trim if your opening is bigger than the unit. It hardwires at 120V or 240V (up to 10,000 BTU at 240V) or plugs in with a compatible plug kit.

Napoleon TriVista Pictura 60: the easiest install
The TriVista Pictura 60 hangs directly on the wall with no framing and no venting. Glass on the front and both sides gives three viewing angles, and you choose between crystals, birch logs and crystals, or driftwood logs and crystals. A Low/High supplemental heater runs independently of the flame. It's the simplest way to add a modern Napoleon fireplace without opening a wall.
Which Napoleon is right for you?
- Do you have an existing fireplace opening? Yes: the Element 42 insert.
- Can you build the fireplace into the wall? No, or not yet: the Astound FlexMount 50 or the TriVista Pictura 60.
- Modern or traditional? Modern: the Astound, sized to your wall. Traditional: the Elevation, or the Elevation X for the most realistic fire.
- How much heat? For the full 10,000 BTU, plan a 240V circuit before the wall is framed. Our electrical requirements guide explains 120V vs 240V and dedicated circuits.
Common questions
Do Napoleon electric fireplaces need venting or a gas line?
No. Every Napoleon electric fireplace here needs no flue, no vent run and no gas line, so it can go on interior walls, in condos and in basements where a vented fireplace could not.
How much heat does a Napoleon electric fireplace give?
The Astound, Elevation, Elevation X, FlexMount and Element reach up to 10,000 BTU (3,000 W) of supplemental heat on 240V. Models that also run on 120V deliver about 5,000 BTU (1,500 W) there. On the Astound, every width has the same maximum heat.
Can I plug in a Napoleon electric fireplace?
It depends on the model. The Elevation X can be plugged in or hardwired, and the Element accepts a compatible plug kit. The Astound Built-in and FlexMount are hardwired. Check the specific product page or ask us before you plan the wall.
What is the difference between the Napoleon Astound and Elevation?
The Astound is a modern linear fireplace from 50 to 96 inches with a changeable media bed. The Elevation is a traditional log fireplace in 36 or 42 inches that frames to the same opening as Napoleon's Elevation gas models.
Can I run the flame without heat?
Yes. On Napoleon's electric fireplaces the flame runs independently of the heater, so you can enjoy the fire year-round.
