The Linear Built-In Range

Ignite XL is the core linear format, offered from 50 to 100 inches, with a wide frameless viewing area, five flame colours and a choice of ember bed media. Ignite XL Bold adds a taller, multi-sided design and seven flame colours — and is rated for indoor or covered outdoor use. Ignite Evolve brings seven dynamic flame themes with tumbled glass and driftwood included. Ignite Ultra sits at the top of the linear range, pairing an ultra-realistic pulsating ember bed and glowing logs with an edge-to-edge viewing area.

Traditional Fireboxes

Revillusion takes a traditional approach — a full-depth firebox with Realogs® logs and a reflective flame panel that makes the flames appear to rise from within the logs, framed into the wall like a classic hearth. Ignite Aspire offers a clean in-wall firebox in 30, 36, 42 and 48 inches for a more compact installation.

Optimyst — Water Vapour, Not LED

The Optimyst range works differently from every other electric fireplace. Instead of projecting light, it atomises water with an ultrasonic transducer to create a genuine three-dimensional mist flame you can pass your hand through. It is a strikingly dimensional flame effect, and it is the one category with a real maintenance requirement — distilled water only.

The range runs from the Revive 25″ for a standard hearth opening, through the multi-sided Aura 28″ and e-MatriX, to full-width linear models up to 86 inches.

Clean, Flexible Installation

Because they're electric, these fireplaces need no venting and carry none of the clearance and flue restrictions that come with gas. Frame one into virtually any wall, choose plug-in or hardwired power depending on the model, and run heat independently of the flame so the fire can stay on year-round.

Settle the power question before drywall — electric fireplace electrical requirements covers what each type needs. Building a feature wall? See designing a media wall with electric fireplaces. And once it's in, keeping an electric fireplace looking new takes about twenty minutes a season.

Comparing Widths and Brands

Sizing to a wall or a television rather than shopping a brand? The linear electric fireplaces collection puts the Dimplex range alongside Napoleon in widths from 50 to 100 inches. For everything electric, browse all electric fireplaces.

How to Choose Your Dimplex Electric Fireplace

Dimplex builds two very different kinds of electric fireplace: wide linear built-ins and traditional fireboxes. Start with the shape of fire you want, then confirm size, installation, and power.

1

Pick Your Series & Style

  • —IgniteXL — The core linear built-in, 50" to 100", with edge-to-edge glass and the patented Multi-Fire XD® flame. Best for a clean, modern feature wall.
  • —IgniteXL Bold — Two- and three-sided configurations for corner, bay, and peninsula installs. Best when the fire needs to be visible from more than one room.
  • —Ignite Evolve — Added flame depth and a wider color range over the standard linear. Best when flame realism is the deciding factor.
  • —Ignite Ultra — Ultra-wide linear formats for large, open rooms and long feature walls.
  • —Ignite Aspire — A built-in firebox in portrait and landscape formats. Best for a contained, framed fire rather than a wide band.
  • —Revillusion — A traditional firebox with Realogs® logs and a reflective flame panel that makes flames appear to rise from within the logs. Best for building a classic framed hearth.
2

Choose Your Size

  • —30" – 48" (Revillusion & Aspire fireboxes) — For a classic hearth-sized fire in small-to-mid rooms.
  • —50" – 74" (linear) — The most common range for a living-room feature wall.
  • —88" – 100" (linear) — For great rooms and long, uninterrupted walls.

Framing dimensions differ from the fireplace's overall width. Send us your rough opening and we'll confirm the fit before you order.

3

Plan Installation & Power

  • —Built-In — Recesses into a framed wall for a flush, finished face.
  • —Wall depth — Most IgniteXL models recess into a 2x6 stud wall, or a 2x4 wall with the optional trim kit.
  • —Power — Select models run 120V plug-in or 240V hardwired; 240V delivers the higher heat output.
  • —No venting required — No gas line, no chimney, no combustion, no clearance-to-flue restrictions.
4

Set the Flame & Media

  • —Media — Linear models take a driftwood & river rock kit or decorative media; Revillusion ships with a traditional log set.
  • —Heat, independent of flame — Run the fire year-round with the heater off, or add supplemental warmth when you want it.
  • —Control — Included remote, with app control via Flame Connect on select models.

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions we get asked most about Dimplex electric fireplaces.

QWhat's the difference between IgniteXL, Evolve, Ultra and Bold?

They're all built-in linear fireboxes; the differences are flame presentation, depth and shape. IgniteXL is the core range with edge-to-edge glass and the patented Multi-Fire XD flame. Evolve uses the same Multi-Fire XD system in a slim 5-3/4" deep profile that fits flush in a stud wall. Ultra is the top of the range, with the Dynamic-Fire flame effect, Rhythmic inner-glow logs that pulse with the ember bed and crackling sound options — but it is 14-1/2" deep, so it needs a 2x6 wall or a chase. IgniteXL Bold is the multi-sided version, built for corner, bay and peninsula walls where the fire is seen from two or three sides. If you're comparing two specific models, ask us and we'll put the spec sheets side by side.

QWhich model codes should I be searching for?

Dimplex uses short codes that are easier to match than the marketing names. IgniteXL runs XLF50, XLF60, XLF74 and XLF100 by width. The Bold multi-sided models carry an XD suffix — XLF5017-XD, XLF6017-XD, XLF7417-XD, XLF8817-XD, XLF10017-XD. Evolve runs EVO50 through EVO100, Ultra runs ULT50 through ULT100, and the Aspire fireboxes are ASP30, ASP36, ASP42 and ASP48. The Optimyst water vapour linears are OLF46-AM, OLF66-AM and OLF86-AM. Every product page here lists the code, so you can match a quote or a spec sheet exactly.

QRevillusion, Aspire or a linear model?

It depends on the look you want. Revillusion is a traditional firebox with Realogs® logs and a reflective flame panel that makes flames appear to rise from within the logs — the right answer when you want a classic framed hearth. Ignite Aspire is a tall, portrait-shaped built-in firebox with a three-sided viewing area, shaped like a gas firebox rather than a linear slot. The linear ranges are wide, low bands of flame designed to be recessed into a framed wall, usually as a feature or media wall. Different jobs, not better and worse.

One thing worth knowing: Aspire and Revillusion are built-in fireboxes, not inserts. They are framed into a wall or new enclosure rather than slid into an existing masonry fireplace. Send us your opening dimensions and we'll tell you honestly what fits.

QWhat is Optimyst, and is it the same as a flame effect?

No — it's a different technology. Optimyst makes its flame from ultrasonic water mist lit from within by LEDs, rather than light reflected off a mirror, so the flame has real three-dimensional movement and a smoke-like drift. The Optimyst Linear models (OLF46, OLF66, OLF86) also include a fan-forced heater, while the smaller cassettes and the e-MatriX produce flame effect only with no heat — check the specification on the product page before you choose. Optimyst units need a water supply: the linears are designed to be hard-plumbed with 1/4" tubing, and the cassettes can be filled manually or plumbed.

QWhat electrical supply do I need?

It varies by model and configuration — some run from a standard plug-in circuit, others are direct-wired and need a dedicated circuit, and several offer 120V or 240V operation with different heat output at each. Settle this before the wall is framed and closed, not after. Our guide to electric fireplace electrical requirements covers what to hand your electrician, and we'll confirm the exact figure for the model you choose.

QHow does shipping and warranty work?

Every order ships free, delivered curbside by freight carrier, with tracking. Need a liftgate? Ask us before you order — additional charges may apply. Inspect the carton and note any damage on the delivery receipt before you sign — once a clean receipt is signed, the carrier's liability ends. As an authorized Dimplex dealer, every unit carries the full manufacturer's warranty and we handle any claim on your behalf.
