Dimplex Ignite Aspire vs Revillusion: Two Traditional Electric Fireboxes Compared

Short answer: Both are Dimplex electric fireboxes built in traditional proportions, with logs. The Revillusion is the smaller, shallower and far less expensive of the two, and it can plug into a standard outlet. The Ignite Aspire is taller and deeper, shows the fire through glass on three sides, adds sound and app control, and has a longer warranty. Choose by the size of the opening you can build and how much presence you want.

Specifications from Dimplex's published data for each model, as listed on our product pages. Prices as of October 2026.

1. The opening you can build

The Revillusion 36 frames into an opening 36 5/8 in. wide, 26 3/16 in. high and 12 1/2 in. deep. That is close to a conventional fireplace opening, and it suits a standard mantel surround or an old fireplace cavity.

The Aspire 36 is 43 1/2 in. tall and over 18 in. deep. It will not fit a typical existing fireplace opening and is meant for a new framed wall or enclosure. The other Aspire sizes need about 18 in. of framing depth too. If depth or height is limited, the Revillusion is the practical choice. Our Revillusion size guide has the framing for every size.

2. How the fire looks

The Revillusion shows flames rising through a log set against a brick or concrete interior that you can see through the fire. It is a quiet, convincing imitation of a masonry fireplace, viewed from the front.

The Aspire is a taller column of fire with glass that wraps both sides, logs that glow in time with the embers, and crackling sound. It makes a bigger statement and can be seen from more of the room.

3. Heat

There is little difference. Both give roughly 2,500 W at 240 V and 1,300 to 1,500 W on a 120 V circuit, and both run the flame with the heater off. See our electrical requirements guide.

4. Price and warranty

At 36 in. the Aspire costs about twice as much as the Revillusion. Part of what that buys is the five-year parts and service warranty, against two years on the Revillusion.

Which should you choose?

  • Choose the Revillusion if you want a traditional fireplace at a moderate price, are working with a conventional opening or limited depth, or want to plug in and go. Read the Revillusion 36 review or see the product page.
  • Choose the Ignite Aspire if you are building a new feature wall, want a tall three-sided fire with sound, and value the longer warranty. Read the Aspire 48 review or see the Aspire 36.
