Short answer: The Dimplex Ignite Ultra 60 is the top of Dimplex's linear electric range: a 60-inch fireplace with a taller viewing area, logs that glow in time with the flames, and crackling fire sound. It is also much deeper than the slim Ignite models, at 14 1/2 in., so it needs a 15 in. framed cavity. Choose it when the fire effect matters most and you can build the depth.

What you are paying for: the fire
The Ultra uses Dimplex's Dynamic-Fire flame effect with a mirrored glass backer that adds depth. The logs have an inner glow that pulses with the flames and the ember bed, and they lift out and rearrange without tools. There are nine flame color themes, three ember bed themes, four flame speeds and a choice of crackling sound effects. At nearly 17 in., the viewing height is noticeably taller than on a slim linear unit, so it reads as a fireplace and not a strip of light.
The planning point: depth
The Ultra is 14 1/2 in. deep and needs a framed opening 15 in. deep and 28 in. high. That will not fit inside a stud wall. Plan for a chase, a bump-out or a deep media wall. In return, the same firebox can be built in three ways: flat to the wall, wrapped around a left or right corner, or as a bay with glass on three sides. An optional linking kit joins units into one longer run.
The heat
The heater is the same as on the rest of the Ignite range: 1,500 W on 120 V or 2,500 W on 240 V. That is supplemental heat, and it does not increase with the size of the fireplace. You can run the flame with the heat off. Our electrical requirements guide explains the circuit choices.
Limitations to know before you buy
- It needs a 15 in. deep cavity, far more than the slim Ignite models.
- It is rated for indoor use only.
- It costs well above the Ignite XL and Evolve at the same width, for the same heat output.
- At about 176 lb shipping weight, plan for help moving it.
Price

Who should buy it
A good fit if the fireplace is the centerpiece of the room, you want sound and the most convincing fire effect in the range, and you are building a wall deep enough.
