Linear Electric Fireplaces

Linear electric fireplaces put a wide, low ribbon of flame at the centre of a room — no venting, no gas line, no chimney. They are the format of choice for media walls, because the firebox sits flush in the wall beneath a television and needs only a receptacle roughed into the cavity behind it.

Lumiflares carries linear electric models from Dimplex and Napoleon in widths from 50 to 100 inches, as an authorized dealer for both. Every unit ships with free insured freight delivery and full manufacturer warranty.

1 Choosing a width

On an open wall, scale to the room. A 50–60 inch firebox suits most living rooms; 74 inches and up reads as a feature wall and needs the space around it to carry the width.

Under a television, match or slightly exceed the screen width. A 65-inch screen is roughly 57 inches wide, so a 60-inch firebox sits comfortably beneath it.

Confirm the published clearance to anything heat-sensitive above before framing — the figure is model-specific.

Check whether your model is plug-in or hardwired, and settle that with your electrician before drywall goes up.

2 Built-in or wall-mounted?

Most linear models can be recessed into the wall so the face sits flush with the surrounding finish — the look that reads as designed rather than added. That requires framing to the model's rough opening and a receptacle inside the cavity.

A few models, including the Napoleon Astound FlexMount, can also hang on the wall surface. That's the simpler retrofit when you'd rather not open the wall, though it always reads as a mounted appliance rather than part of the architecture.

3 Planning a media wall

The decisions that cause expensive rework happen before anything is framed: clearance to the TV, recess depth, receptacle position, and whether the unit needs a dedicated circuit.

Our guide to designing a media wall with electric fireplaces covers clearances, proportions, surround materials and the wiring to rough in early. For the voltage question specifically, see electric fireplace electrical requirements.

How to Choose Your Kingsman Gas Fireplace

Kingsman builds five distinct fireplace families. The fastest way to narrow your choice is to start with how you want the fire to look, then confirm your fuel and ignition.

1

Pick Your Style & Installation

  • Clean View (ZCV series) — Single-sided front view with a traditional log set. The most popular choice for a standard wall or built-in install. Best for a timeless fireplace that anchors one room.
  • Heritage Dual Burner (HBZDV series) — Kingsman's most realistic traditional flame, with a dual burner and full log set. Best when log realism and a deep, layered fire are the priority.
  • Linear (ZCVRB series) — Wide, contemporary clean-face fire glass with no logs. Best for modern interiors where the fireplace is the architectural centerpiece.
  • See-Through & Peninsula (MCVST / MCVP) — Multi-sided units that open the fire to two or three rooms at once. Best for dividing a space or viewing the fire from more than one direction.
  • Inserts (IDV series) — Drop into an existing masonry fireplace to convert it to clean, efficient gas. Best when you already have an opening and want an upgrade, not new construction.
2

Choose Your Fuel

  • Natural Gas — For homes with a gas line at the install location.
  • Liquid Propane — For homes running on a propane tank.

Not sure which you have? Our specialists can confirm before you order.

3

Choose Your Ignition

  • Millivolt — Standing pilot that lights without electricity, so the fireplace works during a power outage. Simple and dependable.
  • IPI (Intermittent Pilot Ignition) — Electronic ignition with no standing pilot, for higher efficiency and lower fuel use over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

QWhat size fireplace do I need for my room?

As a rough guide, plan for about 5,000–10,000 BTU per 400–500 sq ft, though ceiling height, insulation, and whether the fireplace is your primary or supplemental heat all factor in. Models in this collection range from roughly 24,000 to 50,000 BTU. Send us your room dimensions and we'll recommend the right output before you order.

QNatural gas or propane — and can I switch later?

Choose the fuel that matches your home's current supply. Every model is offered in both natural gas and propane configurations, and Kingsman makes conversion kits if your fuel source changes down the road. Order the configuration that fits your setup now, and we'll help you confirm if you're unsure.

QIs the remote control included?

On electronic-ignition (IPI / ProFlame 2) models, a full-featured remote is included. On millivolt models, the fireplace comes with an on/off wall switch, with a remote available as an option. Each product page lists exactly what's included for that configuration.

QDo I need professional installation?

Yes. These are direct-vent, sealed-combustion gas fireplaces that vent outside, and they should be installed by a licensed gas fitter or qualified installer to meet code and protect your warranty. We can connect you with certified installers if you'd like a referral.

QHow does shipping and delivery work?

Every order ships free via insured freight carrier, delivered curbside to your address. White glove and threshold delivery options are available on request. You'll get tracking, and we recommend inspecting your shipment at delivery before signing.

QWhat warranty and support come with my fireplace?

As an authorized Kingsman dealer, every fireplace is backed by Kingsman's manufacturer's limited warranty. You also get our expert support before and after purchase, plus full warranty support if you ever need it.
